Don’t over tighten your strings
I changed strings on my guitar for the first time. Well first time for me. I didn’t think they needed it but my wife insisted.
Shelley has one of those fancy winders and I had to figure it out. Ok, so I got the one end loose but the other end was stuck in a hole with a peg driven in. I was going to get a vise grip to pull them but then found out the winder had a puller. Awesome.
Next step…. putting the new string on. It went pretty well until I started tightening and wound the wrong direction. Pro tip: look to see how the others are wound. Hopefully the last guy got it right.
So all the strings are in place and it is time to tune it up a little. Just a couple more spins with the winder and I should be set to go. Pro tip: do the last bit by hand.
Well I managed to only break 2 of the new strings. Not bad for a newbie.
